Eligibility

  • Candidates who have completed any of the following qualification(s) are eligible to seek admission to the Ph.D. program as per the Regulations and UGC Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree Regulations, 2022 issued dated 07.11.2022 [(New Delhi, 7th November, 2022; No. F. 1-3/2021(QIP)].
  • Master’s degree in relevant discipline with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade (50% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD candidates).
  • Candidates with valid UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/SET/SLET scores are exempt from the entrance test but must appear for the interview.
  • Applicants working in industry, government, or academia may apply for Ph.D. subject to a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the employer.

Admission Process

1. Application Submission: Online/Offline via the Admissions Portal

2. Entrance Test: Covers research aptitude and subject-specific knowledge.

3. Interview: Focused on research interest, domain knowledge, and feasibility of the proposed topic.

4. Merit List: Based on aggregate performance.

Coursework

All admitted Ph.D. scholars must complete mandatory coursework (minimum 16 credits), including:

  • Research Methodology
  • Computer Application
  • Research: Publication Ethics
  • Subject-specific Electives

A minimum of 55% marks (or grade B) is required to pass coursework.

RDC

Ph.D. program, a synopsis is a concise summary of the proposed research that outlines the key aspects of the scholar’s research plan. It is typically presented before the Research Degree Committee (RDC) for approval.

Research Supervision

  • Supervisors must be full-time faculty members with a Ph.D. and proven research credentials.
  • Co-supervisors from other universities/industries may be allowed under UGC norms.

Progress Review

  • Scholars must submit half-yearly progress reports (Every six month after RDC) to the Research Advisory Committee.
  • Regular seminar presentations and pre-submission thesis presentations are mandatory.

Pre Submission Thesis Report

The research scholar can submit the pre-submission report only if the RDC is satisfied about the fulfilment of all the prerequisites such as course work, papers published and conference presentations alongwith quality of the work for submission as a PhD thesis.

Thesis Submission

  • Minimum duration: 3 years, including coursework.
  • Maximum duration: 6 years (extensions as per UGC regulations).
  • Thesis must demonstrate original research contributing to knowledge.
  • Plagiarism check (≤10%) and UGC-approved anti-plagiarism software required.

Award of Degree

  • Evaluation by three external examiners.
  • Open viva-voce examination required after positive examiner reviews.
  • Final approval by the Academic Council.

General Conduct and Compliance

  • All scholars must comply with the academic and ethical norms prescribed by UGC and the university.
  • Violation of research integrity (plagiarism, data fabrication, etc.) will result in strict disciplinary action.

Procedure for Admission – Ph.D. Programme

Candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. Programme must apply using the prescribed Application Form before the last date as announced by the University.

All applications will be scrutinized by the Ph.D. Admission Committee, constituted by the Vice-Chancellor.

Ph.D. admission will be based on the combined merit of entrance marks and interview/viva-voce. All candidates, irrespective of category, will be required to present their research interest/area in an interview/viva-voce held at the university campus before a duly constituted panel.

How to Apply

Applicants may apply online by filling the Application Form available on the official website and paying the application fee of ₹1100 using Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking through a secure payment gateway.
